A: In short, you need to visit our website and provide the Site Code. See the next question to learn about it.
Our website will require creation of personal or corporate account during initial registration. The information you provide will be stored securely and kept completely confidential.
Once logged in you'll be able to purchase licenses for Backup Xpresso and register your licensed copies online. A Registration Code corresponding to your Site Code will be issued, and you will need to enter the Registration Code into Backup Xpresso application.

Q: What is Site Code?
A: Site Code is a code generated by Backup Xpresso for the station that runs our application, basing on your HDD info. We use this Site Code to generate Registration Code.

Q: How do I get my Site Code?
A: To get your Site Code:
- Start Backup Xpresso;
- Click on top left corner of window opened to get general menu;
- Choose "About Backup Xpresso..." menu item;
- Click "Registration" button.
You'll see your Site Code on the dialog opened.

Q: I've made hardware upgrade, why does Backup Xpresso ask for Registration again?
A: Because we use HDD code to identify your station and generate Site Code. When changing Hard Drive that runs Backup Xpresso (i.e. hard drive upgrade, or if you installed on another drive), you need to move your license to new Site Code.

Q: How do I move license from one station to another one?
A: To move your license:
- Log into "My Account" area;
- Go to "Registrations" page;
- Find "Move license to a computer with a new site code" area;
- Paste Site Code you want to move FROM to Old Site Code field;
- Paste Site Code you want to move TO to New Site Code field;
- Click "Get Registration Code" button.
Old and New Site Codes should be generated by the same version of Backup Xpresso, because you cannot use Move area to upgrade and move with the same step.

Q: Can I restore backups created by older version of Backup Xpresso?
A: Yes, you can. Next version of the software does support restore from archives created by older versions. Anyway, you cannot restore with older version of the software from archives created by newer one.

Q: I want to back up separate files, but Backup Xpresso allows to select folders only. What shell I do?
A: Backup Xpresso doesn't allow selection of separate files from application itself, you can drag and drop files you want to back up from Windows Explorer to "Folder(s) to backup" area.

Q: How do I back up files from CD?
A: Backup Xpresso doesn't show CD drive in the list of file sources. However, you can drag and drop files and folders you want to backup from Windows Explorer to "Folder(s) to back up" area.

Q: How do I back up to CD?
A: To back up to CD-R or CD-RW your CD must be formated by DirectCD previously, after that it will appear in the list of locations to back up to.

Q: Why some of my hidden files are backed up and some aren't?
A: Backup Xpresso doesn't back up those files hidden by OS and it does back up those hidden manually by user.

Q: Can I restore read-only files?
A: Yes, you can. At restore you will be asked whether to overvwrite existing version in case you didn't check "Overvrite existing files" restore option.

Q: I have a scheduler set up to back up emails once per week. When I want to back up files once, I go and change backup options. After I backed up my files, I go and change scheduler to back up emails again. But latest options are not accepted and next time I open Backup Xpresso it is set up to back up my files instead of emails. What shell I do?
A: To change backup schedule you need to go through all scheduler screens up to the latest one and click Finish button, at this point your scheduler options will be updated.

Q: Where are my backup files?
A: Backup files are stored to the location you specified during backup, "C:\" by default.

Q: How do I find the backup files created by Backup Xpresso?
A: Backup Xpresso archives are named as BXPRESSOxxxxxx.BX where xxxxxx is a code based on archive date. Use BXPRESSO*.BX mask to search for Backup Xpresso archives on your computer.

Q: Can I transfer the Windows 98 Outlook Express emails to Windows XP?
A: Yes, you can restore Windows 98 Outlook Express emails to Windows XP.
If you have any emails in XP's Outlook Express Backup Xpresso will create new Main Identity, while old Main identity will be renamed to Main(*old*). This is done so that you don't lose your existing emails.
